Self-Portrait

A mixed media illustration done during my A-level Art period.

 

It is a self-portrait done using colour pencil, black pen ink and acrylic paint.

 

The reason why I am covering my face with my hands in this self-portrait is because I want to portray my inferiority complex back then.

 

The splash of red acrylic paint in the background serves to portray my frustration from feeling inferior all the time. This work is largely inspired by Jackson Pollock's Action Painting/Gestural abstraction style
