KATHERINE'S
PORTFOLIO
Tradition V.S Technology
An interactive installation which serves to explore the evolution from the traditional way of manual painting, to a modern technological way of automated painting.
It also serves to explore the boundary between Sounding and Drawing, whereby the different sounds will trigger different movements on the motors that are connected to an actual paintbrush.
Users can interact with the artwork by bending their
fingers, and also moving the whole glove up and down like a music conductor.
My role in the project is to connect the glove with the accelerometer and the bend sensors of the "Teabox" with MaxMSP, so that it can detect the different movements to trigger the different audio output. At the same time, I have to make sure that the "Motors" are being triggered by the different audio output. (As seen in the second video at the bottom).
This is a project collaboration with two of my other group members, Diana and Grace.
